04/10/2013: Walking Food Tour

I decided to sleep in and catch up on sleep lost on the long haul trip from Sydney to Dallas.

I walked to Akard station on the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transport) light rail line and took the Orange line to Uptown station. I arrived early for my walking food trip so had I look around the local area.

There was a cantina, *Mutts*, for dogs and people. There was a walking track for the dogs and burgers for sale. The nearby parking lots were full of trucks and SUVs (the standard motor vehicles in Texas).

I then walked to Baboush Restaurant and met the rest of the people on the tour. It was a mixed group that included locals and people from Jersey and Canada. The Canadians were in Dallas to watch ice hockey and football games.

Our guide had 26 years local planning experience especially around the area we were walking.

We walked around the McKinney Avenue area tasting different foods including: Tex-Mex; Lebanese; Moroccan; and *pulled pork*.

The trolleys were not running due to track work but we did see the *tram barn* where the trams are housed. One of the trams was *Matilda* which was originally from Melbourne.
